The stair came from Italy in a box. Each of the treads slipped over a center pole. The vertical height was accomodated with spacers that took up the slack. And the railing? It's a long piece of vinyl that we had to heat up and then bend to fit the ballusters. Clever, but everything was metric and annoying. Good thing the workers were smarter than the foreman.
